We will come to you

We will come to you!

Both Shani and Tim are interested in sharing their skills and ideas with others. If you can come to our monthly Hulbert Street tours or join in with the Feo Living Smarties that is great, but we can also come to you!

If you are interested in a more formal learning experience in your local community we can discuss either talkng to you group about our wok here at The Painted Fish, presenting the award winning Living Smart program, or we can customize something to meet your requirements. Tim can come to your home to talk about what you can do to make it more sustainable, Shani can present at your conference or meeting, and we can even offer a “Fiesta” service where we present fun and engaging activities to involve people in sustainable behaviour change at local fetes and fairs.

Facilitating Living Smart

Shani and Tim are possibly the most experienced Living Smart facilitators in Perth. They generally work together combining Shani’s background in education and facilitation with Tim’s fascination with energy efficient building design and practical hands on skills –together they make an inspirational team!

Living Smart is a multi-week course providing participants with the practical knowledge and skills to take action in their own homes and around the community. The program was developed to enable participants to have an increasing awareness of sustainability issues, create positive change in sustainable behaviour, and support and strengthen community relationships. The course focuses on encouraging behaviour change through goal setting, celebrating successes together and creating a supportive community of peers.

Shani Graham – guest speaker, faciliator or MC!

After attaining a Bachelor of Special Education and Masters in Educational Management, 20 years in education, both teaching and as a school principal, and a stint providing professional development for new teachers, Shani is no longer working for the Department of Education and Training.

While she is no longer in the official school system, she continues to be an educator in the wider sense of the word. As well as presenting Living Smart as a facilitator, she is also contracted to train all new facilitators as demand for the course increases.

Charasmatic, quick witted and articulate Shani is often called on to give guest lectures, MC events or facilitate meetings and conference. Recently trained in Open Space Technology, she has enjoyed adding this to her repertoire of facilitation tools. Shani is available for any facilitation or adult learning work and can be contacted at stay@thepaintedfish.com.au

Tim Darby – artist, writer and home renovator!

With years of experience in building, sustainable retrofits and landscaping, Tim is well placed to offer advice to those wishing to retrofit their existing home for greater energy efficiency or those building from scratch. While he is not a qualified builder or architect, but has a good theoretical understanding of the principles of energy efficient design and plenty of experience working with the imperfect compromise that is sustainable building.

Old age and hard work have taken their toll early on Tim so he can give you some ideas and point you in the right direction, but he can’t hold the hammer for you. Contact Tim on stay@thepaintedfish.com.au if you would like his advice about what to do at your place.
