Monthly Hulbert Street Tours

As part of our own sustainability journey, we have always enjoyed sharing what we are up to with others. Early on people would call up, drop around for a cuppa or lunch from the garden and we could spend an hour or two showing them around. After a while though we were having too many cuppas and not getting enough work done!

Rather than just say “sorry we are too busy” we decided to run a tour, chat and lunch once a month. It works well – sometimes we have 5- 6 people, sometimes we have 50. It also gives us a great opportunity to exchange stories with people on a similar journey.

We hold our tours on the last Sunday of each month, but it is always a good idea to check with us. We ask people to RSVP. The cost is $20 for waged adults, $15 for unwaged adults of if you are doing a Living Smart Course, and $35 for two people living in the same house. Kids are free and encouraged to come along too.

Please bring some lunch to share, and your own crockery (plates, cutlery, cups – imagine it’s a picnic!)

We start at Shimtani House – 21 Hulbert Street at 10am, enjoy a cuppa and meet everyone before interactive tours of The Painted Fish, Shimtani House, the Living Smarties Guerilla Garden and Hulbert Street generally. At about 12:30 we come back to Shimtani for a shared lunch and conversation.
