When we first opened the Painted Fish in 2006, the plan was to run the accommodation for five years until it was well established and then combine Tim’s interest in sustainable building with Shani’s skills in education and put together some sort of education program.
Five years hey? Well you know what they say- “If you want to make God smile, tell her your plans!”
Within six months of opening we found there was so much interest in what we were doing, and people were asking us so many questions we needed to become better informed ourselves. We enrolled in a Living Smart course, a wonderful community based course that started us on a wonderful journey of learning and discovery.
These pages invite you to come and explore WHAT WE HAVE DONE by providing information about the changes we have made at our home, The Painted Fish and in our gardens.
If you are interested and live in WA we also invited you to COME AND LEARN by attending one of our monthly tours, a Hulbert Street Movie Night, a Living Smarties Night, or our annual Fiesta held in September every year.
And if this is not possible WE CAN COME TO YOU- how about running a Living Smart course for your community, or getting us to talk at an event?
And of course you can always COME AND STAY with us for a while!
