The Carriage

The Carriage offers budget accommodation for one person or a couple.

It offers a beautiful wrought iron queen sized bed designed and constructed by Tim, a sitting area and kitchenette with basic cooking facilities of a microwave, bar fridge and basic crockery.

Running along the north of the carriage is a beautiful courtyard.  It is covered in clear polycarbonate sheeting and catches the sun in winter.  In summer it is shaded by a Cooloroo shade sail.

The courtyard also contains the “bathroom” – a toilet, shower and basin all set amongst the garden. The shower is another one of Tim’s creations, made from copper pipes with a beautiful sunflower shower head running onto a river rock floor.

While private the bathroom can be intimidating for some people not used to Fremantle’s alfresco lifestyle.  As one guest commented – “it freaked me out when I first saw it but it turned out to be my favourite thing”.  We both prefer to use the outdoor garden showers and while most people love them, they are not for everyone.

The courtyard has been fitted with its own limestone pond, providing habitat for frogs and used to cool the courtyard down on unusually hot days.

The carriage currently contains an air conditioner.  We have recently triple insulated the roof, and installed temperature sensitive vents.  Now we are thinking of removing the air conditioner. We welcome your feedback on this decision.

The Carriage – $110 per night or $660 per week.  Maximum of two people. Surcharge of $30 applies for stays of one night.
